I'm no longer going to be a moderator for now. My parting words of wisdom.
Hey everyone,
After a lot of thought, I am stepping down as moderator of this subreddit. I’ve been part of this community for about 3.5 years now, and became a moderator in February 2024.
I originally accepted the role to help keep discussions productive, balanced, and grounded in real experience. I’ve always valued the thoughtful, nuanced conversations that happen here. Ones that look at both the pros and cons of different paths into tech for different people. That’s what drew me to this subreddit in the first place, and what’s made it worth being part of for so long.
The coding bootcamp space has changed a lot over these past few years. The highs, the lows, and everything in between. Through it all, this subreddit has remained a place where people can help each other navigate big decisions, while still reflecting the reality before us.
For now, I think the best way to support the community is to step back and leave room for the community to figure out what's next.
My parting wisdom: express your disagreement with integrity, but try to find at least the smallest piece of common ground in the end.
See you around!

I think it's the right call, dude. Despite our rocky start when I was a Codesmith resident, I appreciate your voice and your valid call outs. I hope you weather this storm alright.

We had many of those spiraling conversations yeah and I think that even finding a bit of middle ground keeps the door open instead of closing it.

Saying “for now” is crazy lol. Means you still don’t see why it was inappropriate in the first place.
You’re not a bad person and a lot of your criticisms are valid, but you often take things too far and your bias causes you to hold double standards for your students vs Codesmit

To clarify, I don't own this sub so that's not my choice, nor do I have any plans to be a mod again. I said "for now" as the opener because there is a lot going on in the moment and I have no idea what the world will look like down the road.

are you down to hop on a call with primegen and clear the air?

I can’t comment or join any calls right now, as there are legal considerations in play and I’ve been advised not to discuss anything related to the situation. I do believe both sides of the story should be heard, but for now, there’s a lot still up in the air.

I just realized he used “for now”, i was under the impression that he won’t ever come back as a moderator again for this sub.

I said I'd reply when I could, so I’ve written up this equally thorough response. Thanks for reading.
