About & Methodology
What this site is
A reference archive of verbatim public statements by Michael Novati — founder of Formation.dev — about Codesmith (a coding bootcamp) and the broader coding-bootcamp industry.
Michael is not affiliated with Codesmith. He is a third-party commenter — and a prolific one. On Reddit (as u/michaelnovati) and on LinkedIn, he has authored hundreds of public posts and comments about Codesmith over multiple years, primarily in r/codingbootcamp.
Because Formation.dev operates in an adjacent training and engineer-coaching space, Michael has a structural conflict of interest when commenting on Codesmith. This archive collects those comments and lets readers evaluate them in volume, in context, and against the linked originals.
Scope
- Included: Posts and comments made under his confirmed public handle u/michaelnovati on Reddit, and other public statements made under his name on LinkedIn or other public venues, that concern Codesmith, coding bootcamps generally, or the bootcamp / engineer-training industry.
- Excluded: Personal life content unrelated to bootcamps/training. Family members. Private accounts. Statements made in private channels. Anonymous accounts (unless and until reliably linked to him on the public record).
Sourcing
- Every entry links to its live source URL.
- Where available, every entry also links to a Wayback Machine, Reveddit, or archive.today snapshot.
- Deleted or edited posts are labeled as such, with the most complete archived version preserved.
- Where a post survives only as a screenshot, the screenshot's provenance is noted.
What this site does not do
- It does not paraphrase his words. Quotes are verbatim.
- It does not interpret motives, character, or mental state. There is no diagnostic or psychological language anywhere on the site.
- It does not host private or personal information.
- It does not solicit reports about him, host third-party allegations, or aggregate complaints. It is an archive of his own public words.
Tagging
Posts are auto-tagged by topic (e.g. outcomes, cirr, refunds, student-response) based on keyword presence. Tags are an aid to navigation, not editorial commentary. The verbatim post remains the source of truth.
Limitations
- Reddit's public API exposes at most ~1,000 recent items per listing per user. Older posts may only be retrievable through Wayback / Reveddit / Pushshift mirrors and may be incomplete.
- This archive captures what is publicly accessible at the time of ingestion. It does not claim to be exhaustive.
