Commenting as an individual and just my opinions, I think the founder and CEO of 12 years being removed by the board is a signal that there will be some major changes happening.
I think it's much more likely that the company will be restructured in some capacity (with or without bankruptcy). Maybe they will shutdown all their bootcamps and just run edX? Maybe they will sell off edX? Maybe they will get acquired by one of the other for-profit mega companies like Kaplan or Chegg after all the university partnerships are cleared out.
I have no idea, but it definitely won't be as simple as they go bankrupt and disappear.
